Our Veterinarians
Dr. Josh Mowry
Dr. Josh Mowry is excited to be joining the team at Oaklawn Animal Hospital. He is a native of Rhode Island and has lived and worked at both ends of the state. Dr. Mowry completed his undergraduate studies at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT before moving to the Caribbean Island of Grenada where he attended St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. His clinical training was done at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
He has worked in small animal general practice for the past 18 years. His areas of interest include internal medicine and dermatology. Outside of work, Dr. Mowry enjoys traveling, boating, and cooking.

Client Care Team
Christine – Hospital Manager
Christine joined Oaklawn Animal Hospital in 2015. A Rhode Island resident since 1992, she attended the University of Rhode Island. Prior to joining the Oaklawn team, Christine worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years with a focus on hotel management. She shares her life with her two children, a beagle named Dusty and Chihuahua sisters, Daisy and Dakota.
Candace – Lead Client Care Representative
Fear Free and TickSmart Certified
Candace joined the team at Oaklawn Animal Hospital in May 2016. She has almost two decades of customer service experience and has worked with animals since 2010. Candace is TickSmart Certified through the University of Rhode Island. When she isn’t busy doing TNR and rescuing cats, she enjoys spending time with her fiancée, hiking and enjoying nature. She shares her home with four cats, two bully-mix dogs, and assorted small critters.
Sonja – Client Care Representative
Fear Free Certified, TickSmart Certified
Sonja has worked at Oaklawn since 1984. She loves ferrets and shares her home with two of them as well as with one dog. Sonja is our problem solver and implements our recycling and composting program.
Alexis – Client Care Representative
Alexis has been with Oaklawn Animal Hospital since November 2020. She received a BS in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2018. She enjoys outdoor activities with her two German shepherds, Zyra and Xena, and spending time with her family, traveling and shopping.
Amanda F – Client Care Representative
Amanda joined the Oaklawn team in June of 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Arts. She is mostly seen with funky hair colors, and hopes to become a Vet Tech someday. In her spare time she loves to play video games, spending time with her fiancé, and volunteering at a haunted house from June to November.
Veterinary Technicians
Sarah B. – Certified Veterinary Technician
Sarah joined our team in March 2019 after graduating from New England Tech. In July 2019, Sarah became a Certified Veterinary Technician. Sarah shares her contagious smile and positive energy in everything she does. Her goals include completing her bachelor’s degree and teaching future veterinary technicians. In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her dog, Rosie, and cats, Sissy and Princess.
Christine G. – Certified Veterinary Technician
Fear Free Certified
Christine has worked in the veterinary field for 25 years and has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2005. Outside of work, Christine’s a weightlifter and triathlete. She lives with her husband and three felines.
Ashley – Technician
PennHip Certified
Ashley began her career as a veterinary technician in 2003 and has been a technician at Oaklawn Animal Hospital since 2006. Ashley shares her home in Cranston with three dogs, Mexi, Mila and Mango and a cat, Bing. Her hobbies include going out with her friends, shopping and spending time with her family.
Courtney – Technician
Fear Free Certified, PennHip Certified
Courtney started with Oaklawn Animal Hospital in 2013 as a veterinary assistant and in January 2016, she was promoted to technician. Courtney works closely with Dr. Mahaney providing canine rehabilitation treatment and services. With her positive attitude and work ethic we are pleased to have her on our team. She is drawn to misunderstood animals and strongly believes in behavioral training. She lives with her rescued dog, Leroy.
Ashley – Assistant
Fran – Certified Veterinary Technician
Fear Free Certified
Fran worked as a CVT for many years before joining Oaklawn in 2006. Her calm demeanor and ability to quiet even the most upset cats has earned her the nickname of Cat Whisperer. She has an associate degree in veterinary technology from Newbury Junior College. She and her husband Tom share their home with many animals. Fran also spends time writing and is interested in photography.
Kristina – Technician
Kristina has been part of our team since 2004. She started as an intern while she was in the ninth grade at the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center in Providence. The internship turned into a part-time summer job, then became a full-time job as a veterinary assistant. In 2008, she graduated from a CNA program but realized animals are her true passion. In 2014 she was promoted to technician. Kristina has a black and white cat named Hydrox and two dogs, Buddy and Pixie. Kristina enjoys spending her free time with her daughter, Rosalie, and her family.
Jordan – Technician
Fear Free Certified
Jordan joined the Oaklawn team in August 2017. She is a veterinary technician, and as a new mom, she spends her free time with her beautiful daughter. She also lives with her two cats, Lilly and Jax, and her rescue pup, Halani.
Jessica – Technician
Jessica joined the Oaklawn and Cranston Animal Hospital family in June 2020. She is looking forward to learning more about Fear Free methods when working with our patients. She enjoys spending her free time with her son, Zayden, and Chihuahua, Princess. Jessica also enjoys hiking, discovering new places and trying new foods.
