What to Expect on Surgery Day

The night before surgery

Please fast your pet (no food or water) after midnight.

Morning drop-off

Bring your pet to the clinic between 7:30–8:00 AM. You’ll also receive the appropriate forms to complete and submit at drop-off.

Pre-surgical exam and prep

Every pet receives a full physical exam and pre-anesthetic bloodwork (if not already completed) the morning of surgery. We administer a sedative and pain medication, place an IV catheter, and prepare your pet for anesthesia.

During surgery

Surgeries are conducted promptly in the morning. Pets are continuously monitored throughout the procedure using advanced equipment to track heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and EKG. A dedicated technician records vital signs and works alongside the surgeon to ensure safety at every step.

After surgery

Pets recover in a quiet, temperature-controlled area with close monitoring throughout the afternoon.

Going Home After Surgery

We will call you shortly after surgery to confirm that your pet is recovering well and to schedule a pickup time—typically between 3:30 and 5:30 PM. A member of our team will review your pet’s post-operative care instructions and answer any questions before you leave.
